"Our care of the child should be governed not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence." - Maria Montessori
Dr. Montessori designed the works in the Preprimary classroom to appeal to the learning styles of all children. The materials use kinesthetic, visual, and auditory learning styles which helps to meet the needs of all students in the classroom.
Since our teachers in the classroom observe each child and meet them where they are at academically, every child continues to learn at their own pace while still being challenged. In our Preprimary classrooms the materials always remain on the shelves. This allows repetition until the child has a true understanding of the work. It also allows every child to visually see what lesson is next while still being able to go back and reconnect with a work they have enjoyed.
Preprimary and Kindergarten Montessori Program
Dr. Maria Montessori designed the materials in a Preprimary classroom with thoughtful consideration as she observed and studied the needs of children ages 3 to 6 years old. Our Preprimary trained teachers understand the Montessori philosophy and they too bring thoughtfulness to meet the child where they are at academically. Upon entering a Preprimary classroom, the child is immersed in Practical Life which helps to build and strengthen a child's order, independence, coordination, and concentration. As the child builds these skills, they begin to learn and understand science (botany, zoology), geography, Math, language, and sensorial.
